About Us and Client Feedback

Dear Wayfarer,

When I entered this world in 1944, drawing, by Good Fortune, my first breath in Minneapolis, Minnesota, legend has it that my first words were, "So, what's to see around here?"

Hence began a lifetime of exploring every fascinating detail of the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota. I drove taxi while a student at the University of Minnesota (In the Yellow Checker taxi below). I spent years driving a city bus, and chauffeuring limousines (below). This brought me into each and every neighborhood in the area. I observed and took notes on local architecture, history, museums and culture, flora and fauna with Lewis and Clark enthusiasm. I read books and I attended lectures, took local tours, joined the Minnesota Historical Society, and read books like a librarian.

I had other "real" jobs as well. I worked as a radio announcer, wrote newspaper columns, even started an art gallery, and had a small market research company which turned southward in 1995 precipating a return to my bliss and the founding of Twin Cities Tours.

Our mission is to provide the traveler with same high quality of tour I myself sought elsewhere in my own travels. For, eschewing bus tours, I always sought to find an old, salty taxi driver, or chauffeur/guide, who intimately knew the area, and, best of all, could discern my interests then show me around accordingly, in a pleasant manner and without crashing into things.

Whatever your preference: natural scenery; gorgeous neighborhoods, homes and mansions; architecture; history; real estate; shopping; or even child-centric, if you have youngsters along; our experience means we can adjust the tour exactly to your needs. For local corporations, we show potential new employees all that there is to love about the area and where they might like to live. For the locals who think they've already seen it all, we show them a surprise or two or three with our Hidden Treasures Tour.

I do as many of the tours as possible myself. But we are also developing a network of area chauffeur/guides who must pass our rigid standards of professional demeanor, knowledge of the area, and, very importantly, safe driving.

We'd love to meet and serve you when you visit the Twin Cities.

Yours for legendary TwinCitiesTours!

I am a tourist from Japan who enjoyed your tour in October. I am pleased to send you a few pictures I took during your guide in Twin Cities. My colleague and I really enjoyed your guide. We were really impressed with beautiful environment in Minnesota and people's effort to conserve it. With a lot of kind people and their heartwarming welcome, our stay in Minneapolis was quite pleasant.

I want to tell you what a pleasure it was to work with you during our recent annual meeting. As our Twin Cities Tour Guide, you were just superb. Your breadth of knowledge was evident in the amount of detail you were able to provide in answering our members' questions. Several of us though we knew this area, but were surprised by the amount of information we gleaned from this tour. The comments from the participants were very positive, and that of course is the definition of success for those of us in associations.

We returned Wednesday to Atlanta with glowing reports of our trip to the Twin Cities. Our first mention is of the tours you made so interesting, and I was quite honest in saying that you should have the Ph.D. in metaphysics. You were the answers to my prayers that we would have a grand time in the city. We wanted to thank you again and let you now that we really enjoyed our Twin Cities tour on November 13. Your ability to add personal touches to the tour (like stopping at McDonald's for egg nog milkshakes) really made the trip memorable.

We are singing your praises to people back home. You are a fine, patient, kind gentleman. Hope we might meet again --- Who knows? Thanks for sharing your lovely city with us. If they could move Minneapolis to a warmer climate we'd be there in a minute!

Thank you again for a really grand tour of your "home town." It was a memorable time for my brother Jack and me. We have been telling our family and friends what a special part of our trip it was.

You took my two kids and myself for a private tour. We had so much fun and learned so many interesting things about Minneapolis!! And now you have mailed my kids' heir note from Mr. Little Guy. My daughter Katie has a form of dwarfism so she is short. Mr. Little Guy is very special to her. She thinks he must be short too because he likes small things. It was very special to her that you did this!

Hi Doug,
Thanks again! The group was so pleased with the tour and they have been teasing those who arrived late and missed the tour that they missed the best tour they have ever been on! The fact that we were right before Halloween gave them some extra things to see that they hadn't expected!

Thanks again Doug, it was great doing business with you!
